MIT Research

At MIT, pushing the boundaries of knowledge and possibility is our joyful obsession, and we celebrate fundamental discoveries and practical applications alike. As educators, we also value research as a potent form of learning by doing. Through MIT’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP(opens in new window)), more than 85% of undergraduates enrich their education through engaging in frontline, faculty- led research.

Research flourishes in our 30 departments across five schools and one college, as well as in dozens of centers, labs, and programs that convene experts across disciplines to explore new intellectual frontiers and attack important societal problems. Our on-campus research capabilities are enhanced through the work of MIT Lincoln Laboratory(opens in new window), the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution(opens in new window), active research relationships with industry(opens in new window), and a wide range of global collaborations(opens in new window). In this work, the MIT Libraries(opens in new window) serve as a crucial partner and a source of important research in their own right.

MIT-Mexico Instituto Politécnico Nacional Seed Fund

Through an annual call for proposals, the fund primarily supports travel costs for exchange between a team at MIT and colleagues at The Instituto Politécnico Nacional.

The Mexican colleague(s) must be identified in the proposal. The maximum award is $30,000.

Priority will be given to projects that:

  • propose a balanced exchange between the MIT and Mexican participants

  • demonstrate complementarity between the MIT and Mexican teams

  • involve undergraduate and graduate students

The MIT-Mexico Instituto Politécnico Nacional Seed Fund is a part of MISTI Global Seed Funds. All general MISTI Global Seed Funds criteria, application and evaluation procedures apply.
